Objective: To study the characteristics of heart damage in patients with ankylosing spondylitis with disorders of mineral metabolism. Material and methods: 102 patients aged from 18 to 63 years (mean age 40.15±1.3 years) with ankylosing spondylitis were observed, of which 88 (86.2%) were men and 14 (13.7%) women. When making a diagnosis, the patients’ complaints, medical history and life history, results of an objective examination, laboratory and instrumental studies were taken into account. Results: In patients with ankylosing spondylitis, there is a correlation between the amount of trace elements in the blood serum and O’NO-α, and a decrease in magnesium content in eryth- rocytes and blood serum leads to an increase in the level of O’NO-α. Conclusions: In patients suffering from ankylosing spondylitis, the frequency of symptoms of heart damage is directly related to impaired metabolism of microelements in the blood. Key words: mineral metabolism, ankylosing spondylitis, heart failure.en_US
