Viral hepatitis A (VHA) is the main cause of acute viral hepatitis worldwide. It
is mainly transmitted by direct contact with infected patients or by consuming contaminated water
or food. The virus is endemic in low-income countries with poor sanitary and socio-demographic
conditions. This article lists data on the epidemiology, prevalence, risk factors, vaccination and
prevention of hepatitis A. |
